Toho is a Japanese film making company that made several monster films such as Godzilla. It took King Kong and put him into 2 films, King Kong vs. Godzilla and King Kong Escapes. King Kong vs. Godzilla was a rather successful film and it was the first time Godzilla or King Kong were in color. Originally, King Kong was supposed to return in Operation Robinson Crusoe: King Kong vs Ebirah but the idea was never made into a film. In 1991 Toho wanted to make a remake of King Kong vs. Godzilla to celebrate the 30th anniversary, but Toho wasn't able to get the rights for King Kong. So Toho just made the film Godzilla vs. King Ghidora and never attempted to mess with Kong anymore.
